Velocity Patterns inside the Proposed Makhool Dam Reservoir with Different Operation Plans

Abstract The Makhoul Dam project proposed to be established is considered one of the strategic projects in Iraq as it works insurance large quantity water spare flood seasons, increase storage capacity dams Iraq, well food security. Makhool located on Tigris River Salah al-Din Governorate, and 8 km south meeting point with Lower Zab River. lake area about 256 km2. In this research, a mathematical model was prepared by using HEC-RAS Two Dimension Software analyze velocity patterns depths inside makhool dam reservoir at highest operational elevation, based designs Iraqi Ministry Water Resources which 150.25 m.a.s.l. present study conducted investigate difference outlet discharges changing operation spillway gates within reservoir. velocities were predicted evaluated utilizing modeling efficiency 99.7%.
